Music new and old...
Today is my old friend, Joe Dyer's birthday...Happy Birthday Joe Dyer! I have played with Joe since high school. "Another One" was the name of the first band we were in...which evolved into "Mindlikewater"...I heard the Another One stuff not too long ago...it was cool to hear the progression there...cool to know that the cards fell where they did...Joe Butera (MLW drummer)was producing us and upon us leaving the band he joined up...I believe we went to a steak and shake late one night and discussed what would become "Mindlikewater" for the first time...seems like ages ago and sometimes...like yesterday...Jim then fell into our lap at Avalon Recording Studio...He was the screamer for a hardcore band rehearsing down the road and was checking out the studio...We were looking for guitarists and he was wanting a band to get his chops out...worked well the first time...MLW was born...Ryan came in on keys after having a year or so stint with Jon Cheadle on keys...Ryan really put the garnish on the band...5 years of music followed before we took a hiatus of 4 and half years...crazy to think of now...but it did give us all a chance to do new things...Ryan and I moved on to D_composure...Joe Dyer played in various local things...but we all missed the MLW experience...so it is truly awesome to be back as a band...now we are all tending to our lives...making music for outlet and art and music's sake...it is truly awesome...I also wanted to have a different project with friend's Matt Short (Guitarist for D_composure) and James Dickens (Drummer for the band, OURS). No band name yet but I have talked about it a bit...Ryan is also on keys...bass....we are all switching instruments for different songs...we are planning an EP release...a few shows here and there and some cover tunes...a fun project if nothing else...all of this and solo work I am approaching at home...loving it all...keeps me very eclectic and fresh...never bored...anyhow...nice to reflect music..new and old...
