Very transitional time in my life. Moving has been stressful. The picture above shows what my house has been for a month plus now. So why not put the rest of my life in development. Ha. Music and everything else. It is time for a new presence online. I have not hosted my own site in forever. Starting to bother me. I have specific ideas that I am working hard to learn how to implement. So a new site is in progress. Naturally new art concepts need to be in place. I have my friend Amy (Cat Attack) on board to visualize things. Exciting. I am also looking to do videos of some kind for this EP and possibly the older tunes. So all things new on the way. Still in Florida at the moment and trying to make the most of it. Hopefully we will be New York bound soon. I am staying as productive as possible in a sea of boxes. Ha. Hallway Drums

Wednesday, August 17th was a very productive day in the studio. Joseph Butera III laid down some drums on my solo ep. I also tracked the only electric guitar on the record. We setup some mics in the hallway outside the main room to get a different drum sound. So tracking is complete. Exciting times in so many ways. Stay tuned for details.

Scary and Beautiful

So it seems I am in full creative mode. Yesterday...Sunday, August 7th...was a very inspired and productive session. I am working on 5 tunes with friend, Ryan Copt at the old Avalon Recording Studio before I leave for NY. I wrote 4 of the 5 tunes in a day and recorded all 4 in a day. One more to go! I have a particular vision in mind and we are achieving that vision in a timely manner without shorting on quality. I am very pleased. Feels like a Tim Burton (Danny Elfman) style collection of tunes. Anyhow... I will share a bit of the next session in one way or another on here. Hope all is well with the world. Stay tuned.

As I begin to close chapters in my life...I feel new ones penning themselves...the paper is clean before me...I am ready to ink it up...scratch my world into a new canvas...very exciting times...D_composure played what will certainly be our last gig for a while...Mindlikewater has a few more the end of July...I will spend the rest of the year surely promoting the new Mindlikewater record, "Keep Humming Bird". I am thinking this might be our last full length. I am sure we will send files back and forth to make a new song or two here and there. We shall see. I look forward to the new musical endeavors...finally putting focus on the solo project. Maybe putting together a new band up North if the opportunity presents itself. I am also thinking about how cool it will be to play shows with D_comp and MLW when I visit Florida in the future. Will be a cool way to bring all my local friends together again. Recording remotely will be fun with both projects as well...anyhow..just thinking and needed to put it down somewhere...move on to new thoughts...stay tuned for all kinds of new...

Life, Future, Music & Leaving Florida

I have waited for a while to make an official announcement about leaving Florida. Many of you know already. Life has brought me to this point. It's bittersweet really. A lot of great friends and family here that my Wife and I will miss...but it is time to move on...Going to NY. Musically this changes the live shows for D_composure and Mindlikewater. They will most likely only happen when we visit. There are some final shows for each group on there respected pages if you click the links I added above. I plan on continuing music. Especially solo music. I also plan on continuing to record music with the other projects...Including, Mindlikewater, D_composure and Comadrone...all can be worked on by sending files, etc. There are many things I will miss in Florida but my Wife and I excited about moving on. Starting fresh and starting a new chapter in our lives. If you wish to see us before we go please come out to one of the shows in July. D_composure on the 9th and Mindlikewater on the 23rd. Both at Redemption in Stuart, FL. Come throw down. Would love to play for everyone I can before I go. I also plan to at least hit one open mic to play some solo tunes. Hopefully I will have time. Life Update 6-12-11

So it has been a whirlwind of work and play the last few months. This year has been very productive so far. Musically speaking...I have released a bunch of stuff. Played on other people's songs, etc. Been doing two bands for the last few months. A few film score and writing projects are coming up. Working with Bongiovi Acoustics has been amazing. Great to see the company grow. Truly a learning experience from week to week. I could not ask for a better company as my employer. I can only imagine what the next six months will bring. Exciting to say the least. Life is good. Change is welcome. News to come.

Baritone Ukulele

So I recently purchased a Baritone Ukulele. Something I have had my eyes on forever. I got a beginner one to see how I like playing. From what everyone says online, Lanikai makes a nice one. I did my research and was able to play one for a bit. Super fun and portable. I like the idea that the baritone is mostly tuned like the top 4 strings of the guitar. Should be an easy transition for me. I really want to use it in a more layered way. I am not thinking I will be doing Hawaiian songs or playing themed parties anytime soon. Lol. I am liking the idea of playing more medieval finger style on it. We shall see. I am all over the place at the moment with style for my solo material. I have wanted to entertain this focus for some time and I am hoping this will give me a push in a new and welcome direction. Stay tuned for a Ukulele pic and maybe a video.

New York, New York

So I recently went to Upstate NY with my wife. It was an excellent trip. We stayed on Lake George at the Fort William Henry Resort. Thanks to my awesome brother, Mike. A few days before our trip we had my Niece Kelly visiting from Georgia. So the last 2 weeks have been great for family and relaxing. Always nice to get away. Every time I am in that region of NY I feel a sense of pride as I walk the streets of the towns my family is from. It inspires me highly every trip. I cannot wait to put the finishing touches on my new solo EP in the works. Thank you New York. Stay tuned for tons of new music. Take care.

Crazy Amounts Of Music!!!

So I am staying busy with the new music. Many of you have probably noticed that I have shows with both Mindlikewater and D_composure coming soon. More dates will be announced soon. Mindlikewater has been working hard on a new record for a good long time now. We are finally done tracking it. Just getting artwork and mixes together now. My new collaboration project, Comadrone has finished 5 songs and we are releasing 1 track at a time online for FREE at http://comadrone.com. Earlier in the year I released an EP as a solo artist called, The Antique Ghost. I also released a FREE single a month or so ago called, Cloud Comin'. I have about 5 songs ready for another EP already! Haha. I know this is a lot. I plan on working on the new solo tunes for a while to fine tune things and make sure I have the right 5 or 6 tunes for this follow up EP. Joey Butera is busy mixing the new Mindlikewater record and once that is done I plan on getting to work on finishing up that solo EP I just mentioned. I will say this, After the solo EP is out I plan on just playing gigs in Florida for a bit. Get some people hearing this music. Take a break from recording and writing. Unless of course the ideas are continuing to flow. As if this was not enough...I have also been a session musician on this guy John Hull's Country music project. Been a lot of fun. I have also been busy with Bongiovi Acoustics and the DPS Plug_In as well. Check out these sites. Pretty cool audio applications. Teaching a few guitar and voice lessons here and there. This is a crazy productive time in my life. I am loving it. I hope everyone is enjoying the stuff I am working on and I am really looking forward to performing more in the months to come. So Very Inspired...(Solo Music Update: 4/19/11)

Very creative times right now. I have two new songs I am really liking at the moment. I have been finding myself exploring new lyrical avenues. Writing a lot about how we handle things as human beings. How we filter the junk that gets thrown at us everyday. A topic I know most people can relate with. We all walk this path of life our own way and I want to try and capture mine on tape...and maybe my observations (not judgements) of others as well. I am finding beauty, darkness, light and love. Amazing and creative times. I am reconnecting with nature and making myself unplug everyday from life as we know it now. Life on the computer. A walk outside works wonders. Sometimes I am finding the company of strangers is very inspiring as well. I go to a coffee spot or book store and just let the pen move. Melodies seem to follow quite easily. I sometimes start singing or humming right then and there. I have gotten a few looks from people as if I am crazy. Ha. The answer is yes. I am a bit off. Aren't we all? I feel as though I will have a strong collection of tunes in no time. I plan on making some videos of me recording. Share a bit. Bring my friends and family into the place where it begins. Maybe pictures of the places and things that are inspiring me. Stay tuned for more solo music news. Take care.

The Cloud Comin' Single & New Solo Music

Hey Everyone. So it has been a few weeks now since I released my newest tune, Cloud Comin'. The remix version came out 4 days ago and for those of you that downloaded it, I ask you to go get it again as I noticed a glitch in the mix. A slight pop at about 3 minutes. My friend and producer, Joey Butera fixed the issue and I re-uploaded the remix today. Sorry about that. Overall, This song along with "The Heart Drums On (Featuring: Katharine Blake) have been the most warmly received tunes for my solo project thus far. The Feedback has been mostly positive and I thank you for your time and listening hearts and ears. It truly is helping me grow into a more confident solo artist. Maybe one day I will feel the urge to start performing this stuff more often. I have one other solo tune recorded at this time along with a lot of ideas of where I could go for an EP or Full Length Album. I am not sure if this is the direction my record or EP will take as of yet. Either way I am sure I will release it soon. It seems that minimal and lo-fi tones are resonating with all of those who have heard Cloud Comin'. I am very much feeling a minimal approach at the moment. A less is more kind of thing. I do plan to record my next release on my own. I don't want it to be polished and perfect. I want raw and wrong. Real and flawed. Much like the people we are. Hello everyone. Just felt like it might be time to shed some light on where we are as people. Where I am as an example. Where things are going etc. For better or for worse. Get a discussion going. It seems as though we are all becoming projectors. Everyday we run our lives for all to see on Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. The beauty of it for me is to see what's going on with friends and family and to get my music out there. I find myself tuning most of the negativity out. Plain and simple, I just can't be a part of that. My wife made a really good point to me a while back while I was complaining of an ache and pain. She brought up our Fathers and the real health issues they dealt with. Heart and lung transplants. They never complained. So I have made a stand to not share anything negative online. I think I feel better physically and mentally for it as well. Though I do understand that everyone needs an outlet and that social nets serve as a journal of sorts for many. I ask you to think about what we do online. These are questions I ask myself when I post content. Is it of value, relevance and importance? Will people read and engage in this? Is it quirky and fun? Are you sharing with people? Is it hurting another person? Social networking is becoming anti-social because many (not all) are not considering the people on the other side of things. We are projectors. Wouldn't it be nice to get something projecting back?

Hey Everyone. So I have been very active musically in the past month or so. Just with all my other projects. Just so happens that my partner in crime, Joey Butera got around to mixing a tune I recorded myself a while back. It will be an exclusive to my download store and site. Been a year in progress. D_composure is off to a slow start but we plan on playing some Florida gigs for fun. I also plan on releasing an old EP from D_composure. No real new music at the moment. Toronto

Spent a week up in Toronto. Very inspiring. Music ideas are flowing in my mind. Canada is an amazing place to visit. Was there working for Bongiovi Acoustics at the Toronto auto show. Showing off the DPS technology. People were way into it. It seemed everyone had the utmost respect for one another. A culture so full of pride and kindness. So expect new music and lyric inspired by this trip and the amazing people I met along the way. It was nice seeing a bit of snow as well. Anyhow... Stay tuned...

Comadrone

For some time now I have been thinking about a project where rules are in place. Rules to get results. Minimal music with minimal tools, sounds etc. A project where I can be off the wall and creative with friends contributing their instruments of choice. The project is called, Comadrone. The website is rather bland at the moment but it will be more active soon. There are 2 songs in the works with my friend, Chad Adcock providing some guitar, bass and kitchen utensils. Mindlikewater and D_composure

Hey everyone. Not much news to report by way of solo material. I do have a few songs in the can but nothing I want to release or focus on at the moment. I am enjoying the collaborative nature of Mindlikewater. We are wrapping up writing and recording for our first full length since, Curving Toward the Sun. Exciting times. D_composure is putting together a live show. I have a few new tracks for D_composure in the works as well. Not sure about a record. Something slightly more lo-fi and raw is what I am leaning toward. Once the Mindlikewater record is done and the new D_composure is back playing shows...I plan on working on solo material again. A few people have asked if I am going to play out acoustic again...I will...wish there were more places to play...any ideas?

2011 Goals

2010 was a very musical year in the studio for me. Released the "Cranes EP" with Mindlikewater. A Solo EP titled, "The Antique Ghost." A few tracks with D_composure as well. Each project will surely have another release in 2011. My goals for 2011 are clear and simple. More music. More live shows especially. Mindlikewater is wrapping up a full length. We are changing up our set list for every gig. Been exciting. D_composure has a new live lineup and is beginning rehearsals this week. A few new songs are in their early stages for a new D_comp. I also plan on beginning work on new solo material. Something a bit more off the wall. All 3 of these projects are taking on new directions and they are all very welcome changes. I am also reaching out to other music entities (friends) in an effort to collaborate on some music. I have many tracks of music that I have shared with vocalists & musicians to see what they come up with. These are tunes I feel strongly about but just can't seem to give them lyrical justice they deserve. Excited to see what comes of these tunes. Seems I am already achieving many of musical goals for 2011. I plan on staying more to myself in my personal life and getting back to the creative process as a way to reach out a bit. So I will be seeing more of you world...

Holidays and Music

So excited to spend some time with family. Walk away from the grind. Had a nice visit with Desi and Marilyn Suarez tonight. Talked about recording a tune in Desi's garage studio. Would be cool to record something outside of my little room at home or in the real studio. I plan to make good on this and do a track after the new year with Desi. Collaborate and really let his ears produce. This is a creative cat with a cool outlook on just about everything. Liz and I are wrapping presents and taking it easy. Watching TV and hanging out. Slight ear infection to nurse. I will be better for the holidays. Cannot wait to see my Sister, Brother In-Law and Niece. Anyhow...stay warm with love and enjoy your holiday with family and loved ones. Tons of new music and live shows are coming in 2011 with all my projects. Take care.

So here we are approaching a new year. 2011. I am looking forward to spending this holiday season with family and friends. I am really excited about what 2011 will bring musically. So with Mindlikewater coming to a writing break...I started entertaining the idea of D_composure again and already have an EP about done being written for it...time to get playing new live shows and songs with both D_comp and MLW...also started something new today that is nothing like anything I have written before....something obscure...visual type stuff...anyhow...I am really into it and I realize this is music that most people will not be into...but it is where I am right now and I am hoping to be able to catch this moment of creativity while it is visiting...these ideas feel very much like backdrops for obscure European films...not very standard song structure...lots of drone and noise with melodic vocals sort of cutting through...been busy with all kinds of other things but I have had a few moments to sort of try and clear my head and release... and this is what seems to happen during these times...I feel like maybe I am channeling some chaos that I am feeling in my brain...we shall see...maybe I will share something new before the new year? So I have begun writing a few new tunes which will surely become a new D_composure release of some kind. Maybe an EP. I wish to then play some select shows in Florida. Old stomping grounds like Respectable Street Cafe and a few other venues we used to frequent. The only real members at the moment are Ryan and I and we are on the hunt for a 3rd and possibly a fourth member. Mindlikewater and D_composure News

So Mindlikewater has been writing and recording for some time and we have 8 fantastic songs about done. We will not be releasing them until sometime in the new year but we have already started to learn the new tunes for the next wave of live shows. One song is already in the set. D_composure news. Yes I said D_composure news. I am pleased to announce that I have written a new song that definitely sounds like D_comp. I presented the song to Ryan Copt tonight and we are beginning work on it this Sunday. Every D_comp record has been an adventure and always starts with a song that sets the mood and creates a theme. I wrote this song about our culture as a people. Constantly consuming. Compared it to a darker vibe of sorts. So another chapter in D_comp begins. I cannot wait to have a few new songs and play live again. I still plan on playing my solo stuff acoustic here and there. I just cannot walk away from D_comp. The time is right to pick it back up. Thanks and Giving

I would like to extend a few thanks in regard to some recent musical happenings. Thank you Lola Astanova for choosing the Bongiovi DPS Team to record your new music. It was an absolute pleasure and I think on behalf of our team I can say honestly it was a great experience that we are all hoping will happen again as soon as possible. I would also like to thank Katharine Blake for singing on my solo EP, "The Antique Ghost." These are amazing women with amazing talents. Thank you so much. My previous post talked about giving. Using my music for the betterment of others. I have a bunch of new ideas on how to do this effectively and 2011 will be a great year of giving for me. I feel very inspired. Music for Charity

I have always tried to do benefit type shows as often as possible. Heart Association...a local memorial gig...etc...As often as they present themselves. I really enjoy playing to help others. I got to thinking...why not try to use my actual music to do the same...I am trying to find the best possible way to donate most if not all the money from the sales of my music...At some point I plan on getting a site setup that has this idea in mind...any ideas are appreciated...let's chat about this...take care everyone...

Last 2 Solo and Mindlikewater gigs

The last few weeks I played 2 gigs at Mickey Finns. One was a solo gig for a suicide prevention show...the other was last night with Mindlikewater. Both of which were opening time slots...both of which were fantastic...with early and nice crowds...I am easing my way back into the live realm of things...Mindlikewater will do maybe 2 more songs and hopefully have a record...the new songs are great...we played one new song, "Where The Colors Bleed" last night and it was the highlight of our show...nice feeling...anyhow...all is well...stay tuned for solo and MLW news...thanks to everyone who came out to the last two shows...take care...

Band for my Solo Work

I am in the process of putting together a band for my solo material. I plan on starting to play out at least once or twice a month as a solo artist in many forms. Full band and stripped down with collaborative musicians. Busy times in November and it looks as though I will start jamming in December sometime. Hopefully. I really want to be playing open mics in the treasure cloast and was hoping I could start this in November but it looks as though December makes more sense for all this to begin. Stay tuned.

My Performance Last Night for Suicide Prevention

Last night I played for a friend of mine who was putting on a Suicide Prevention Event with AFSP at a local joint called, Mickey Finns. Not the common place to be playing acoustic with violin but nonetheless it was nice to do something for a cause. A good cause. So many of us have been touched by suicide and possibly have thought of doing it. There is always love. There is always help. Last night I quoted John Stewart from the rally he recently did. He said something that hit me on so many levels. "These are dark times...not end times." So true. While I am appreciative of those of you that came out to see the bands and myself, I am mostly grateful that you came and supported such a great cause. Take care.

Nature...

I have come to realize and feel something so deep and beyond words...A connection with nature...not real sure why that is...but it feels so strong lately...how a bird's song can brighten one's day...children laughing and playing outside...I have one tree in the distance that has a changing of the leaves...a beautiful reminder of upstate NY and how much I long to someday raise a family in a place with seasons...I feel that seasons remind us of what life is...life is about change and dealing with it...hard to fathom when we get 2 months of cool weather here in FL...2 months of environmental change...but we need to see it...we need to be open to it...warm and cold...very much light and dark in my world...all so beautiful

Playing on Saturday Nov 6th

I will be playing a few acoustic tunes on Saturday Nov 6th at Mickey Finns in Port St. Lucie, FL. This is a Suicide Prevention event. I think everyone needs to be aware of how close this hits home. I personally have dealt with issues of depression and reaching a very low point where I have considered killing myself. Everyday I think of a reason why not to. There are many reasons not to. We need to let our loved ones that are in these dark places know that there is light to be found. Light to feel warm upon our faces. Click here for details.

Halloween...

So it is Halloween. A night of interesting history and festivities. October through December tend to be very creative times for me. I always feel this sort of crunch to finish my creative projects and ready myself for the new year. I have been somewhat of a hermit over the last year and I really hope that I can get out of my shell a bit and get some performing and hanging out going on. Time to get some rest. Happy Halloween!

So we approach a new season. A time for new things. I am ready for change in so many ways. I am and have been on that path for some time now. Life is looking up. Summer seems to weigh heavy on me physically which in turn makes things hard mentally and I apologize to any loved ones that have seen me this way over the years. I do appreciate my close friends and families support in regard to my health and my music. Having the love I have in my life always pushes me through. I feel energized knowing I have such great friends and family. Most of all my loving Wife Liz. How she deals with my form of crazy is beyond me. LoL. I think we all need to be thankful for these things and realize that as long as we have life in our veins...it is worth living. Took me a while to get that...but I think a bit of light is shining...and it has found my heart...SO ready for the holidays...family...love...music...everything the end of 2010 and start of 2011 might bring...

Solo Performance Rehearsals

I have begun rehearsing my solo material with friend and violinist, Tim Jacobson. I plan on playing some shows as a solo artist very soon. Sometimes shows will be just me, myself and I. Others will include Tim. Eventually I will have Ryan Copt (of Mindlikewater and D_composure) playing some keys along with drummer, James Dickens (of Plain Jane Automobile, Ours). The idea behind this band is to play some solo material and maybe a select few D_comp and Mindlikewater tunes that fit the mold. I plan on writing an recording new material as soon as the new year hits as well. I will be posting the occasional rehearsal video on my YouTube channel as soon as the moment strikes. I also plan on having special sit in type things going on to try and make shows more exciting and new every time we play. SO stay tuned for videos and bookings for my solo performance. Solo Music Thoughts and Goals

Well it has been some weeks now since I released my first EP as a solo artist, The Antique Ghost. I am very happy with the result so far. I really put this out because I was feeling it and really wanted people's thoughts and feelings. Most of which has been very positive. 2 people shared thoughts of the record being very down-tempo and chilled out. I realize this was a sort of dark and considerably laid back affair in comparison to my work with D_composure and Mindlikewater. These are my true colors here. I am a moody guy and this conceptual group of tunes are a reflection of where and what I was thinking when I wrote The Antique Ghost. I am writing new ideas. I have one EP already recorded. However, I am not sure if this is the direction I want to go in right now. Almost all of the music is electronic. We shall see. I am thinking something even more organic than the last EP would be a nice follow up. Something with a lot of strung instruments, strings, piano and layered voices. I seem to be churning out the lyric ideas as of recent. Melodies come quick for me. I am not spending a whole lot of time on this as we are nearing the completion of a new Mindlikewater record at the moment. I would however like to do one new song I have written as a sort of gift before the new year. We shall see. I also would like to put a band together behind my solo work at some point. Family pride

I left Florida on a mission to connect with my NY family in a way I have not. Family alive and well...family moved on...it was truly breathtaking. Visually and emotionally...Many photos up on my facebook page. It was truly amazing to see the home my 3rd Great Grandfather, William J. Beaty built. The Zirelli family were very gracious by inviting me into their home. I could not help but think of all the Beaty family that had lived and worked there on the Golden Valley Farm in Salem, NY. I also saw my cousin Bill Beaty in Salem as well. Had dinner. Was fantastic. I also saw my cousins from the Burton family. Went to a few breweries. Stayed a night in their lovely home in Mohawk, NY. I then visited my Aunt Geri in Clifton Park. I was afraid that maybe she was not doing well health-wise and I really didn't leave feeling that way. I felt she was not going to leave anytime soon. We had a nice lunch and visit. My brother Mike came as did my cousin Greg. After I also saw my cousins, Brian and Deb Rosebrook. All the people mentioned above are just fantastic. Hands down. An honor to be in their presence. Throught his trip I stayed at my brother Mike's house in Queensbury, NY. I love it there. I cannot wait to return someday soon. I left with a sense of pride to be a Beaty. A sense of pride to be a Getty...a Varney...a Gerusky....an amazing feeling...

Back to New York

So I leave again this week for beautiful upstate New York. A hard place to want to leave. I am seeing all kinds of family up there. Such a beautiful area. Queensbury is where my brother lives. He is nice enough to let me borrow his car while he is working. I am also going to more central New York to visit my Cousin's in the Burton Family. Will be nice to see my Aunt Gerry. Last remaining sibling of my Dad. Seems like 5 days was a lot but it is already full of activities. Hopefully I will be able to see everyone I can. Pictures will follow. Will be nice to study the family history and see the people I love so much.

The Antique Ghost Concept

So I am at home watching Ghost Adventures. I love anything ghost oriented. I have had what I feel to be a few encounters in my life. Nothing quite like what inspired my EP, The Antique Ghost. My wife and I had an ongoing series of noises and odd noises going on in the house. The main sound we were hearing was a camera flash. A flash that sounded like an old antique flash bulb going off. We had visited a sort of strange house when we were looking to maybe buy a place. I never felt it was anything that followed me home from this place. I also had just returned from upstate NY. I had visited my Aunt Gerry and she had given me old Civil War era family tintype photos. I could not help but think how odd...I bring home old photos and we start hearing a camera flash going off at the foot of our bed. I also distinctly remember popping up fast form a deep sleep one night and feeling a cold air surround me. It felt familiar and not scary. It was not too long after this that I decided in my mind that it was the ghosts of blood. Relatives! I spoke in a soft voice one night asking them to no longer disrupt our sleep and the flash sounds never happened again. My wife and I were sort of freaked out but I knew then that these were spirits of family trying to say hello. I am an avid family tree guy and I am thrilled to know that they are around. Believe what you want. I think if it were just me experiencing this, people might think I am insane...and I am sure I am. lol. However, that's besides the point. My wife and I both experienced this for over a month in our home. It was not dream or drug induced. It was so very real. So I hope that this little story will give everyone a little more to grab onto with the songs. I have a series of experiences in my life that have been kind of cool that are in the whole...spirit realm...I may actually write a group of tunes about one story in particular. Anyhow...put this record on for Halloween...buy it for your friends...lol....happy haunting...

So Inspired

So some quick studio and writing updates. So inspired. I have already put a bunch of new melody ideas together for a second solo EP or album. I plan on refining the tunes over the new few months and recording them early next year. I think they really compliment "The Antique Ghost" record well. It does feel like a different style and feel than the last group of tunes however. A bit more upbeat. Still dark and pretty though. We shall see what comes of these tunes. Mindlikewater is halfway done with our new full length record. No title for it yet. Songs sound so amazing! There are at least 8 songs in the can for this record so far. Starting to record our 6th one soon. Hopefully demos for the 7th and 8th tunes will be done soon. I think we are very close to having the songs we need. 10 seems like a good number. Time will tell. I believe that this will be our best record. I feel it is already to be honest. There are a few musical collaborations I am planning for fun that are not Mindlikewater or solo things. So the folks at iTunes launched a fantastic new social network inside of iTunes called, Ping. I feel like this has sort of renewed my interest in iTunes. I must admit that before this came out I was really only using iTunes to update devices. I stopped storing music in it on my PC many years ago. Winter is Coming.

So I have released my first solo EP, "The Antique Ghost." It is getting really good feedback from my inner circle. It has become available on iTunes and on Amazon MP3 in addition to my website. It truly feels liberating to release something as a solo artist. It was so fun making this EP and now I have the bug. I have a lot of new music already completely recorded and new tunes in the can waiting for mixes and masters. Maybe a few months down the road I will release another solo EP? Something very different form the first. Winter is coming and my main goal is to have the Mindlikewater record done by the end of October. The focus in the Mindlikewater camp will be to play live more often after the new record is complete. Looking forward to that. Maybe I will see if the guys will let me play a solo tune with them as the backup band? I think that would be fantastic. Anyhow...I am writing tons now and I cannot believe that Winter is so close. My favorite time of year and usually my most creative. So we shall see what the next few months bring. One thing is for sure...a lot of new music in multiple projects...loving this time in my creative life...Stay tuned...

Solo EP Complete!

So the Solo EP is complete! My friend, collaborator and producer: Joey Butera has done an excellent job helping me see it through. He played drums on 5 of 6 tunes. So it is not a true solo effort. It never really is though. I did play all the strung instruments along with some keys and percussion. Sang everything. Also had a guest vocalist that sang on the first tune. Katharine Blake. (Mediaeval Baebes, Miranda Sex Garden.) I am going to spend a month or so figuring out a way to change or update my site. I also am working on a plan on releasing this. So stay tuned. Now I can focus on finishing the new Mindlikewater record. Get with Ryan and finish the 3 songs we did with our little side thing, The Air Apparent. Then I will do something new after all that is done. Not sure what yet. Stay tuned for everything.

Solo EP Update 8-24-10

So the first round of mastering for my solo material didn't go as planned. It was close but not quite the tone we were going for. So Joe Butera III revisited the EP and did quite a lot of legwork to make it better. I will be hearing that in the next day or so and hopefully will have a complete work. I am so excited to release this thing. I am thinking my site is going to be revamped. More than likely it will be a basic blog format. Blogger or Tumblr page. Nothing fancy. Something I can embed stuff into each post as it is relevant. Makes life easy. So a new site and a new EP on the way. All of this while I am working on a new Mindlikewater record. My initial goal was to have a new Mindlikewater record and a solo release before the end of 2010. That will be 3 official releases in 2010 for me. 2011 will be the year I focus more on playing. I need to step it up. So expect a lot more appearances from both of these projects. I will be letting people know about the solo EP release as soon as I have the master. Cheers!

Birthday with the Band and Music stuff...

Had a great Birthday. Practiced with Mindlikewater then everyone went out for drinks and food. Good times. Was nice to actually hang out with music not being the agenda. Strangely no pictures were taken. Before we practiced and had birthday festivities, Ryan laid down his remaining keyboard parts on a few tunes which brings us to 2 songs completely done...and 2 waiting on 1 or 2 parts...My goal was to have 5 songs done by August...looks like we are on track...as soon as 5 are done we plan on making a few more demos for the next 4 or 5 tunes and starting to track them...all of which I hope to have recorded in Sept...October to start promotions while we mix...late Ocotber to November release...this is wishful thinking...but if we keep the pace we are at...it will be done...inspired music goes to tape very quick...loving that....once this record is done we plan on playing out more and promoting it...selling it to die-hards...giving it away to who wants it online...we plan on doing everything to get this music out there...we don't plan on sharing any new material just yet...but stay tuned...my solo thing is done as well...I plan on releasing that...maybe playing a tune from it in the MLW show and selling my solo disc at MLW shows too...we shall see...sure the guys won't mind...time to get off this machine and breathe a bit...

Mindlikewater, D_comp & Life

So we are back in the studio tonight working on one of my faves of the new tunes so far...called, Morning Rain...sort of about how being more chill about things is the way to be...If I have learned anything in my years so far on this Earth...it is that anger and frustration gets me nowhere...I have been thinking a lot about my focus in life and with music...music has always been a release for me...a place to put my thoughts...feelings...what have you...I have always done what feels right at the time and usually that pays off...getting mindlikewater back together was a no brainer...we were all in the right head space to do it...and I am happier with this band than I have ever been...D_composure...is for the most part...over...it was a very cool time in my life...I had the privilege of playing with Matt Short and Bill Jarrett...Joe Butera...Jason Mooney...Todd Walker played some Hi hat...lol... and it was a project that Ryan and I took a lot of pride in...there are a few more tunes to roll out over however many weeks or months to come...we will finish the newest little EP project...at least 2 or 3 more songs left...those songs were written some time ago and just need vocals and mixes...I usually feel something new coming on with a project...a sound...a focus...theme...something...after these songs were written...it was as if a door had been closed...double chained and locked...key thrown away...I feel nothing for the project...I feel I have outgrown the name...the dark vibe...it is time for me to focus on Mindlikewater and a solo thing...and a whole new focus in my personal life...that I will leave personal...the solo record is waiting on a revised master...I think it is dark and beautiful...personal yet relate-able...I have listened to it a few times recently and I feel it is a strong reflection of who I am...so if anyone reads this blog at all...thanks for your support in D_composure...a few more tunes left...stay tuned for new Solo music and MLW...

Smashng Pumpkins Show Review 7-20-10 Fort Lauderdale

So I usually just talk about my various music things on here but this was too great too ignore. I thoroughly enjoyed the Smashing Pumpkins show at Revolution Live in Ft. Lauderdale (7-20-10) last night. It was amazing. I feel the new lineup is the best they have ever had. The feel is there. Seeing the Smashing Pumpkins in the Gish, Siamese, Mellon Collie, Machina and Zeitgeist eras, I definitely think I have a good basis of comparison. I would say the Machina Tour was right in line with the caliber of musicianship (and over all feel on stage) as this band. They're having fun up there. They have a great chemistry. Mike Byrne and Nicole Fiorentino are really holding down the rhythm section in a way I thought not possible. Jimmy Chamberlin has pretty big shoes to fill but Mike Byrne does the job and then some. I felt Mike Byrne and Nicole Fiorentino brought a lot of energy where it was lacking on the Zeitgeist tour a few years ago. Jeff Schroeder is an amazing guitar player. All of his solos are right on par with Billy Corgan's leads. I don't feel like I miss James Iha very much on stage. I am a big Iha fan but he is off doing his own thing and Jeff is the right fit for the pumpkins. Billy's voice and guitar were spot on. He was playful and emotional. The setlist was the big thing that stood out to me. Great mix of tunes from almost every era of the Pumpkins plus a few obscure tunes and a few new songs. I did notice there were no songs from Gish but heavy on the Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie. A few songs of Adore, Machina and Zeitgeist. They played 2 of my favorite songs ever, "Stand Inside Your Love" and "Eye". I was very impressed with this show. the new material is really good. They played, "Freak", "Astral Planes" and "Song For A Son" off of their new "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope" series available on http://smashinpumpkins.com for free.

Solo record done.

I need to take a final listen but my solo EP has been mastered. I am planning on pressing 100 cds and selling on Itunes and everywhere else online. Very happy with the songs. Tomorrow I plan on giving it a very thorough listen to make sure everything is as it should be. I am very excited. Also started recording Mindlikewater song number 3 last night. Sounds very cool. Mindlikewater Recording Sessions 7-11-10

So it's back to the studio tonight. Around 7pm Jim will be laying down some guitars on Song number 2. 6 demos have been made. The songs are very light hearted while still rocking. A few mellow tunes already in the mix. A few tunes that feel very catchy have already made their way into these six. I feel whatever batch comes next will be the final writing for the record. I feel a very loving warmth in these tunes. A sincerity that is what Mindlikewater is and has always been about. I have done some fantasy writing in the past. This feels more of the moment. Vital. All the more reason why we plan on recording this record in a timely fashion. We are better musicians than we used to be. It is nice to play a song once or twice as a band...look each other in the eyes and say, "Time to record this tune.." Ryan is really playing the producer hat on this...whether he wants to or not...lol...he is doing a fantastic job...I think his recording vision is dead on...very clear and clean recordings so far...letting the songs speak...the sounds are enormous...before we play the tunes I have demos with voice all set...making everyone a part of the tunes from their infancy...I think keeping this record close to our hearts and not letting out each tune as we record is the right thing...I want to release this record locally...play local to support it and sell it as a whole collection...because we are feeling it and it is strong material...pics and videos from the studio are the way we plan on sharing this process until it is done and we release a single...the record...and then more booking to support it..stay tuned...

Solo Album Status.

Well if all goes well...I should have the mastered copy of my EP...I plan on making 100 cds and that is that. I really am all about recording a new Mindlikewater cd right now so I am not thinking I will be playing any formal shows as a solo artist. Maybe an open mic or two. Anyhow, stay tuned for news on it's release...title...date it's coming out...etc...

Playing Live in Florida

All these years I have been in Florida now. I have played so many venues in a lot of towns. Most of which have been very enjoyable. I have played in bands here since my 1st year of high school. Cupajoe, Another One, Mindlikewater and D_composure. Looking back on some of these bands I remember local shows in the Treasure Coast area that were amazingly huge. I want to say that there were shows that exceeded 6 or 700 people on a regular basis back in the day. For local bands. This is the way it should be. Times are tough. I realize. It seems the more Mindlikewater plays just whatever kind of show...the less people show up. If we hold out and make it an event...then the turnout is pretty good...So we have been working on a new batch of songs...which sound fantastic so far...melodic and a bit brighter in subject matter...very cool...not focused on shows...I really do miss playing every weekend but it just does not make sense. We have no desire to tour and lose money along with our sanity...lol...we do however have the itch to record and make a real record...so maybe a show here and there with Mindlikewater...more when our album comes out...now I have a solo EP about to be done...going to have some physical copies...and of course release it digitally...would love to play a coffee house type scene...open mics...etc...hoping there is some of that around somewhere...maybe I will open up for some friends bands or something but I am really feeling like I will not be playing a whole lot as a solo artist at this point in my life...I am really feeling Mindlikewater as a band...maybe they will play a solo tune of mine and be my backing band while we are playing a MLW gig? never know...stay tuned for recording and release news...and yes...the occasional show...

A new Mindlikewater Record?

So it has been over a year since we have been a band again...some successful shows have gone down...a sort of eclectic release with The Cranes EP and a limited local faves collection...summer in FL seems to be when we have always found our way...this hot start to summer is no exception...I am super happy with the new ideas on the table for a new MLW album...not an EP...not giving away songs for free like the last release...like everyone is doing...a real album...these ideas feel like a record...something worthy of a real focus...in our recording past we have done things all kinds of ways to try and get better as we go...tighten up ship I guess...with one song in the can I can truly say that this is going to be right there with the best stuff we have done...quite possibly the best...the band has never been more at ease...not caring about trivial things...just music...a show if it makes sense...feeling a record in the future with Mindlikewater is truly a magical thing..laugh if you want about the term magical..lol..I just did...but it is like electricity....to feel the creativity...art concepts in my mind...everyone is working hard to do something outside the norm of their playing style and abilities...we are not paying attention to traditional structures...just the feel...I feel that this could be the record Mindlikewater has reunited to make...to show people what this is...get in the trenches again and relate...the band is ready to do this...stay tuned...

New Music News 6-24-10

So it seems that my goals for this year are wrapping up way before I thought they would. I thought 4 releases with 4 projects would take me all the way to 2011. I believe the next 3 or 4 months will be all I need to wrap up my solo EP, the D_composure EP, The Air Apparent EP and new Mindlikewater music. I believe this might be the last D_composure release for some time. I really need to move on. Ryan and I both are on the same page. The new release, "Building The Girl" is a great D_composure release. A very fun project to work on so far. Very odd and unique in comparison to our first releases. There is talk of a few shows to say goodbye to D_composure live in the treasure coast area. We shall see. Time to move on to something more fun and upbeat. The Air Apparent project was a fun thing we did a few songs with a little under a year ago now. Ryan and I with Matt from D_comp and James Dickens from Plain Jane Automobile and Ours. Time was precious and we canned the project as a real band. 3 songs will be done soon and will be available online for free. I will be letting everyone know. So much stuff!! Will be nice to just be done with everything in the can and start something fresh. Summer will provide the time to finish all of this and focus on Mindlikewater and whatever new that pops up. Until then...stay tuned for tons of new music from tons of random projects! Closing old doors and opening new windows...

Joseph Beaty Solo EP

As I said before...The music for the new EP has been completed. I have decided to include songs I have previously recorded as people have been asking for songs like: "Fold Into Me", "In A Fog" and "Call My Name" on a actual physical release of some kind. I will be compiling these three songs with 2 new songs that no one has heard as of yet. 2 songs that should pave the way for my future as a solo artist. Plan on getting the track list straight soon. These songs are very all over the place style wise. Folk, Electronic, Indie type focus I guess. Anyhow, I will be working on the art and all that to get this ready for an end of summer release. Exciting times. Also in the studio with Mindlikewater and D_composure this summer. Mindlikewater is working on a physical release and D_composure a Free digital release followed by some shows. Busy busy. Stay tuned.

I will be releasing my solo EP very soon. Little 5 song sampler EP. Releasing the new D_composure EP one song at a time for free. Been going over well so far. Mindlikewater is recording and writing now as well. The solo and D_comp stuff should be out in the next few months. Very excited all the way around. Anyhow. Mindlikewater Recording 6/6/10

It is back to the studio with Mindlikewater again tomorrow. Planning on doing some video of the process. Hoping we can get all the music done for this song. If all goes quick and smooth maybe some vocals? Who knows. Just one song in the works right now. Think we are just going to release it as soon as it is done. Get it in the live set and try it out. New D_composure Song "I Am Invisible."

FIgured I would let a few people know here on my news blog thing about the new D_composure song that is up for FREE download. It is called, "I Am Invisible." FIrst song in a series of 5 or six tunes based on a video slash short film concept that will be complete at some point. At least 4 possibly 5 more songs will be released for this project. Seattle Equals Amazing!

So I was kind of hush hush about last week...what I was doing...where I was going...etc...My wife and I visited Seattle...saw some friends...some amazing sights...rode ferries to islands...ate the food...took up a show...lol...I am not even scratching the surface on what we had seen in six or 7 days...pure amazing...felt like a dream really...the people make it that much better...free thinking...everyone wants healthy and fresh foods and surroundings...something I wish Florida would jump on...I am sure I will be sharing some photos on my facebook soon enough...if anyone gets a chance to check out a band called, Spanish for 100...they are from Seattle...a great band I saw...back to recording solo stuff...D_composure...and a new Mindlikewater song...

Vocal Recording and Solo EP News

Singing on solo track number 2 later today...excited to finish it...already have a another track in mind for the next tune...exciting to think that I will have my first solo EP out in the near future...I think I will begin sharing music sometime in June. I do plan on playing some open mics and setting up some local type gigs at coffee shops and whatnot...opening for some shows...talked to a friend Bobby from the band, Woodmen Hall... about playing some light drums on some stuff...Ryan is on board to play keys...so i think a three piece can achieve stripped down versions of this EP I am working on...bring it to the live realm...this is a ways off...but I do plan on pressing at least 100 cds for my first EP...and of course some give aways and iTunes release...etc...so lots going on...D_composure has a new EP in the works...and Ryan and I do plan on playing some shows again with that at some point...of course Mindlikewater is playing shows...has a few songs in the works...so it should be a good summer of recording...releases...and performing...yay...stay tuned

Had an amazing time playing to a local crowd at Mickey Finns in Port St. Lucie, FL. It was a pretty packed house and people seemed way into it. Nice to see people driving from north Florida to come see us play....singing all the words right up front...way fun...anyhow...thanks everyone...Tuesday I sing on another solo tune...should conclude 2 songs...3rd song will be done sometime in June...at which point I am going to start working on artwork and photos for my first EP...and I will be launching the first tune for listening...stoked...anyhow...stay tuned...

Downsizing projects...

It seems that the original idea of the project I had in mind called, Cloudwork...has just become solo music...cannot find the right collaborators and the sounds have really just become what my solo work is already...so another name bites the dust...I canceled the cloudwork myspace and I plan on only working under the solo title...along with D_composure and Mindlikewater for the time being. Just seemed like more clutter that I don't need right now. I am comfortable enough in my own skin to call all of my work outside of D_comp and MLW my own name...no matter what it sounds like. So time to live and get outside...

I am feeling very positive. New focus brings new music. Closing the door on some old ways of thinking. Ready for new. Selling off gear I don't need and starting fresh with new and exciting instruments and noise makers. Getting rid of things in general. Clutter is not welcome in my life anymore. No need for a hundred pound organ taking up an entire room or three distortion pedals that do the same thing. I got a new synth at goodwill for 5$ the other day. A new analog drum machine on the way. Already making new music with my 5 dollar synth while I am finishing up my first more organic sounding solo EP. Starting to mix solo stuff and D_composure stuff. The end of 2009 I said I would have a release with each of my projects for 2010. Seems that I will way out do that goal. Mindlikewater- The Cranes EP is out now. D_composure begins mixing a new untitled EP on Sunday. I am writing like crazy for solo stuff. At least 2 EPs in the works that will be released in 2010 for sure. Shows are not really the focus these days. Though I am sure I will be bitten by the bug here after a few more months of recording. I am loving recording at home and bringing the music I create into the studio environment to make it all cohesive. In site news...I linked my video section on the Joseph Beaty dot com site to the official you tube page. I guess it is where people want to see it anyhow. I really want my site to feel personal. Hence, the blog on the front and the links there is you wish to check them out. Nothing in your face. Just a reflection of me and that is that. New studio videos will be up soon. Solo Record Update 5-4-10

The new song we recorded yesterday was titled, Haunt Me. A very unique tune. Eerily beautiful. The songs on this EP are about family. Feelings of family from the past being around. Family I have never met. I did not set out to write with this theme. It just happened. I did think about trying to write from my ancestors perspective. A time piece of sorts... However, this just kind of came out. This song needs vocals and a mix and it is time to record song number 3. I am starting to get ideas for art and how I want to press the hard copies for this. It will be limited to 100 or something like that. Something minimal but unique. Something that I hope will live in whatever is left of your music collections for years to come. The EP is already written and new ideas are happening everyday for future EP releases. I feel that releasing something every 5 songs makes a lot more sense than not sharing any music while I record 12 or 15 tunes. Plus...I change vibes often. I am already writing something new with a new sound. So yes! I am finally to a place where I can commit to a solo project. Loving where I am musically and in life. Stay tuned.

Recording Today...

Yesterday was my Father's Birthday. He would of been 74 today. Wild to think that he has been gone for almost 13 years. He was a great man. Anyhow, I am recording today in Avalon Recording Studio. Song number 2 for my first of many solo releases coming this year. I have decided that I am way too all over the place musically to put out a full length as my first solo release. I have decided to release 5 song EPs. The first will be a slightly more arranged group of songs. Drums...Keyboard parts....strings if necessary...The next group will be more raw. Recorded at home then brought to the studio for the finishing touches. A more minimal approach. Using one keyboard for my sounds, acoustic or electric guitar and my voice. Should be a lot of fun. Seems I am thinking more in a small group of songs these days..not totally abandoning the idea of an album...but trying to get my ideas down more raw and quick to share with you more often...in a more raw and real way...stay tuned...video clips of today will be posted somewhere...take care...

yamaha PSS-470 old synth

Found a little yamaha synth today...the PSS-470. A lot of guys that circuit bend stuff and like old casios and fm synths dig this little gem. 5 bucks at the local pawn shop. Sweet! Completely functional. I just need a rca to 1/4 inch and I can record with this beast. Also might experiment with putting a mic on the terrible speakers built into the synth. I have beenlooking for something like this that has some tweak-able sounds. I will have to sample the drums to be able to use them at all....unless I make a song with the beats as they are....which might be kind of fun...none the less...this was a steal and a great vintage find...had to share...I am sure something will be released with this soon. Thinking about Dad...

Approaching my dad's birthday...got to thinking about him today...was having some things checked out in regard to my heart health...my dad was always sick...as long as I can remember...he never complained...i get a little cold and I whine about all the time...I am over that...when there are real problems happening...there is no time to complain...you have to do what is necessary to get things done...so if you hear me complain...shut me up...I was also thinking about stress....since I did a stress test today...it is so not worth it...in any way shape or form...we all need to do the best we can in our lives...we can avoid stressful situations for the most part...if stress is a co-worker...we need to feel comfort knowing when the day is done...so is dealing with that person's stress...if the job hurts and it is ruining your life...walk away...find something else...don't let money run the heart....listen to your heart and you will feel amazing...I have been trying this recently...and it is working...I am not afraid of change...I want to live...

Recording May 3rd

I have a bunch of new material in demo form now. Very exciting. Seems like I have found the sound. Every song I have written in the last week has been worthy of recording. Fitting the mold I have designed for this first record. Haunting and beautiful. Loving it. Slow, Mid Tempo and upbeat tunes are all seemingly in the fold. It is mostly on the mellow and melodic side however. Loving this process right now. I will be sharing some studio footage on my you tube page soon. Inspiring Times...

It seems that a lot comes out in these times of hardship...people show how amazingly beautiful they can be...how ugly they can be...all food for the creative minded...hard times always means amazing art and music...I am feeling what I am doing right now in a way that is new to me...I am dealing with new problems with my music...dealing with the dark parts of the past in song as well...it truly is therapy for me...getting to a place in life where I can close the door on certain things....and open a new window to another...An issue that has come to my attention is my time out in the real world...way too much time spent online...indoors...away from real interaction...I see what it is doing to people...I feel what it is doing to me...and it is not positive...not saying I will not partake in social nets...I have to for work and promoting music...but otherwise...I am done...no more personal stuff being shared...I do enough sharing this way via music...I will be using this space more in a journal sense to make better use of my time online...and to talk about my music...I will be spending less time on facebook, twitter...etc...over it...ready to live...love...make music...all for now...recording solo tune #2 soon...stay tuned for rants and raves here...

So Many Songs...So Little Time...

I have been writing more recently than ever. I have been super inspired....to be honest...it has been a rough few months for me health-wise...tomorrow I go to a follow up appointment and hopefully I can put anything serious to rest...I am sure I am fine...anyhow...music is going well...about to wrap up recording for a new D_comp release...writing some new Mindlikewater now...probably record through out the summer as we play a show here and there...but I say with certainty now...I am recording my solo record...writing my solo record...and it will be done this year...this is my goal...also been coming up with a lot of experimental instrumental tracks...not sure where to put them all yet...one was a D_comp tune for sure...I will put the others somewhere...someday....stay tuned.

Solo Record Update

I have another tune in the works. This makes a 3rd song that I feel is right for this record. I would say for every 10 tunes I write I have been getting one that makes the cut. A crazy criteria helps me weed out the so so songs. However, it seems to be getting easier each time. I have a 4th piece of music that is in it's infancy without lyrics at the moment. I am in the process of trying to book some studio time to record the second and third songs. I am very proud of the work so far. A dark, haunting beauty seems to be the theme...all things love and death... light and dark...Not sure when I plan on rolling out tunes yet. All in due time. I am hoping to have Katharine Blake (Mediaeval Baebes and Miranda Sex Garden) sing on a few more tunes if she is able. Stay tuned for more news my lovelies.

2010...who would of thought...I am still making music...music that means something to me and hopefully a few others...D_composure has a new project slated for 2010 release...Mindlikewater has begun writing for something new with a more focused approach...My solo material seems to keep taking the back seat...I have one song complete that Kat Blake sang on...loving that...but I am not sure what I want to do with it...so I plan on sharing it soon...ideas are flowing and it seems now I just have to do it...i will book 2010 shows to play solo...somewhere...maybe a starbucks or book store..an open mic...something...I need to...this is the year I do something for me with my own material...and the other projects...well they are busy...

D_composure Studio Updates

It is nice to be back in the driver's seat for D_composure. 2 new tracks about done being recorded. The first one we have with voice is a crazy tune called, "I will Make You Real." Certainly setting the stage for new material. A new focus completely. I have a feeling this will be the most experimental record. Though, I think these songs will work well in movies and commercials. D_composure entered Avalon Recording Studio to start work on new material. Ryan and I are the only members. The original members back to our roots. Making noise and not worrying about what people think about that noise. I think the first official session working on new material was completely productive. A new song is laid out. Just needs voice and some tweaks. A few parts maybe and it will be in the can. Super excited about this and of course my other projects. Solo material and Mindlikewater. All active projects in the studio with Mindlikewater playing select shows. I can say that it really was fresh and fun to get in to make original D_comp stuff again. We have worked on remixes the last few weeks and it was a lot of fun. We just love making original music. Cracking jokes and being goofy. I am expecting a much lighter approach artistically for a new D_comp record. Not so dark in the artwork. Songs are very deep and powerful. Still fun and groovy too. I am deeply moved by the recent earthquakes in Haiti and Chile. I feel like we know a bit about disasters being from Florida. Seeing 2 direct hurricane hits in a row in the treasure coast area. Any way you look at it disasters of this magnitude cause real pain. People losing loved ones. Families losing their homes and businesses. This is a time where we all need to reach into our hearts and pockets and help these people. This is a time for prayer. A time for meditation. A time for love. No matter what your spiritual belief. Do something good for someone. God bless the disaster victims.

So I am planning on setting up the webcam today...pretty stoked to see what it does...it is a fairly decent one...not sure how long it will sit in the current home studio setup...as I am moving soon...fingers crossed...anyhow...once I get to a place where it looks and sounds ok I plan on rolling out some videos to the youtube page I setup. been sick....bouncing back rather quickly though...good thing...took the day to think and relax...ideas are realy starting to come together for my solo stuff and I am finally feeling ok with a push to complete a project under my name...that is a big thing to do...it is one thing to play in a band...or have an electronic project...a moniker you can hide behind...but when you call it your name....the very thing that means the most to me...my family name...I want this music to be the best it can be...and I feel I am on the right path for this...Joe Butera is a great friend and awesome producer...I plan on having many friends play on this record...so it is me...and people that I love and respect...to have a vocalist like Katharine Blake on this stuff was quite a way to start recording...one more song and the journey will begin...so excited...stay tuned...ideas are flowing...

So a few days away from the mix desk....with a clear head I can say that the first song for my solo record is done...it was amazing to hear Katharine Blake (Mediaeval Baebes, Miranda Sex Garden) on the track. I am with Joey Butera at Powerstation Studios in Pompano today...Mixing the first tune for my first solo release...First time really hearing Katharine Blake's vocal with mine in the mix environment....sounds amazing...again...Katharine is a big influence of mine...from Miranda Sex Garden to Mediaevil Baebes...her solo work...all breath taking music...just so glad to have her voice on my tune...the song is sounding amazing so far...Joey is doing a great job...I am so excited...Hoping to have a better website together at some point...somewhere as these recording sessions progress...Joey is mixing this to the Studer tape machine today....should give it a really warm tone...stay tuned...

Music projects!!! Updates...

So Friday the 19th We are mixing the first song for my solo record in the works. As previously mentioned...Vocalist and multi-talented Katharine Blake (Miranda Sex Garden, Mediaevil Baebes) provided some guest vocals on the first track. I have a few new things in the works and I am getting ready to make demos for those tunes. I plan on starting to record a real version of, "Fold Into Me" next. A song I wrote many years ago that has been a favorite of mine. I feel the original song did not get the recording and arrangement it deserved. String arrangements will be needed on this tune. I plan on having a few friends play on it. Violin, Cello, Piano and light percussion. I plan on doing all the vocals for this one. So progress is being made here. Not a lot going on with The Air Apparent project. Ryan and I sort of had to prioritize our time and go after what had the most going on at the time. However...we do have 4 songs recorded and we do plan on having a mix of one up soon for free. We plan on releasing these 4 songs for free on a website of some kind. It is unclear what we plan on doing with this. There may be some performances in the future but as of now just a release online here and there. D_composure is writing and gearing up for new performances sometime in the next 3 or 4 months. Not real sure who is going to be involved other than Ryan and I. I think we might try to do a Duo Set. See if e can pull off a stripped down electronic set. Have the occasional stand in live. We shall see. http://dcomposure.com has all our music up for free download now. Mindlikewater has released a new EP called, The Cranes. We are happy with it's outcome and we plan on playing some shows and sharing that music for a while as we figure out our next moves. My "cloudwork" project is also on hiatus but I believe friend and vocalist, Jamie Adcock will be a vocal contributor. I have 2 music arrangements in the can for this and I plan on recording all the music at home and recording vocals, mixing and etc at Avalon Recording. This is not a project I am focusing on now.
